Government Launches Inventory-Based E-Commerce Export Framework to Boost Global Market Access

New Delhi, Aug 5: The Centre has operationalised the inventory-based e-commerce export framework, a move aimed at making it easier for Indian businesses to sell products in international markets while strengthening the country's growing digital export ecosystem.

The new framework allows eligible exporters to maintain inventory in designated warehouses and fulfil overseas orders more efficiently, reducing delivery timelines and simplifying export procedures.

The initiative is expected to particularly benefit micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), startups, artisans, and local manufacturers, enabling them to reach global consumers through e-commerce platforms without facing complex logistics and compliance challenges.

Officials said the framework will streamline export operations, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance the competitiveness of Indian products in overseas markets.

By facilitating faster order processing and smoother customs procedures, the policy is expected to encourage more businesses to participate in cross-border e-commerce and expand India's export base.

Industry experts believe the move will strengthen India's digital trade ecosystem, create new opportunities for entrepreneurs, generate employment, and support the government's vision of increasing exports through technology-driven commerce.

The operationalisation of the framework marks another step towards making India a global hub for e-commerce exports by improving ease of doing business and helping domestic enterprises access international markets more effectively.
